Through manipulation of the muscles, tendons & ligaments, massage therapy repairs and reconditions these soft tissues, consequently relieving pain and discomfort.
bOOK AN APPOINTMENTAll therapists are experienced and well qualified, with a strong knowledge musculoskeletal anatomy and functionality. We will conduct a preliminary examination in order to establish the likely cause of your problem. We always listen attentively to all the information you can give to help us decide upon the best course of action.
Massage can be adapted to be relaxing, however in order to repair damaged tissues it is sometimes necessary to apply relatively firm pressure combined with robust manipulation and movement of the joints.
When appropriate this more dynamic approach greatly improves muscular performance and recovery time from over use injuries. We are however, entirely guided by you and each treatment is completely adaptable to meet your needs and preferences.
If your body generally aches, your muscles feel tight or movement seems restricted, a good quality massage treatment will be of huge benefit to you, not only physically but also mentally.
Your soft tissues will feel revived and able to work again. Any specific injuries or particularly problematic muscles can be targeted, bringing you back to fully functioning condition.
Often pain is felt in a different location of the body according to well researched location patterns or maps. Direct pressure is applied to a specific point of a muscle where an active trigger point is identified by the therapist. By deactivating problem trigger point the therapist reduces muscular tension allowing pain free movement.
The patient participates by contracting a given muscle while being restricted by the therapist. After a short time (5-10 secs) there is a naturally occurring relaxation period, which provides an opportunity to increase range of movement or access to the deeper tissues than was previously possible.
Fascia is the substance that wraps and connects all tissues in the body. For a number of reasons the layers of tissue and fascia can become stuck and need to be manually released. Therapists apply firm sustained pressure to specific points, while generating joint movement, releasing of the adhesion.
This is an advanced and extremely effective form of assisted stretching, which greatly increases flexibility and range of motion. PNF is conducted with the therapist and patient working together by alternating the resisted contraction, followed by intensive stretching of the muscles. This is done using a systematic method, which allows the therapist to manipulate the limitations of the patient’s nervous system, thus allowing for far greater gains in flexibility.
